Board of Directors
Many community members from throughout the nine counties have served on PLC’s Board of Directors, volunteering their time, their expertise, and passion for PLC’s mission to guide the development of the organization.
During the initial years, all the work that was being done to fulfill PLC’s mission was volunteered by members of the organization. By 1996, the demand for PLC’s help and the support throughout the region for PLC’s work had grown to support two full-time staff members. Kathy Treanor, who was one of the founders, remained as the Executive Director and Palmer Smith McIntyre joined the staff as Program Director. Shortly after Palmer’s arrival to the staff, PLC had outgrown its quarters in Kathy’s home and the offices were moved to downtown Greensboro on Edgeworth Street.
PLC’s 4 full-time and 7 part-time staff members coordinate the day-to-day work of PLC and offices are currently located on Cornwallis Drive. Even with the expanded staff and the new living quarters for PLC, the amount of work to be done remains high as does the need and the opportunity for individuals and organizations to become involved in PLC’s work through volunteering their time and their expertise!
