April 19 (Saturday) – 2008 Piedmont Earth Day Fair in Winston-Salem (Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship, 4055 Robinhood Road) – 10:00-5:00. Over 50 environmentally-friendly organizations and businesses will offer exhibits featuring sustainable practices, conservation, green building, green transportation, farmer’s markets, and demonstrations. Free and open to the public.
May 31 (Saturday) – Mayo River Canoe Trip with Kyle Hoover (9:00-3:00). Join PLC for a spring float on the Mayo River, highlighting spring blooms, wildlife, Native American structures, the “Boiling Hole” and the new Mayo River State Park! This float includes a very difficult (class III)
rapid to be navigated, with a portage option that includes wet, slippery edges and is best suited for intermediate to advanced paddlers. We ask that all participants be able to either shoot the rapids or make the necessary portage on their own. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. for shuttle.
