Next meeting: Wednesday, February 22, 7-8:30pm. We will watch the film “Homeland Habitat: Bringing Nature Home” (film provided by the NC Native Plant Society).

  • Second Saturday Outing, March 11, 2017, 10am-12pm – A hike at Faith Rock in Randolph County. Join PLC for a spring wildflower walk on Faith Rock just outside Asheboro in Randolph County. Explore this unique natural area and enjoy the remarkable views of the Deep River from high on top of Faith Rock itself, while learning about the remarkable Revolutionary War history of this special place. Faith Rock is a Natural Heritage Site as well as a County Cultural Heritage Site. PLC acquired Faith Rock last year and is transferring the property to the Town of Franklinville for use as a natural area park and a connector from the Deep River Trail, a rail trail which runs along the Deep River. This outing will be led by NC Zoo Deputy Director and PLC Board Vice President Mary Joan Pugh. We will meet at 10:00am at the parking lot at Faith Rock, located on Main Street to the right after you cross the Andrew Hunter Road bridge going into Franklinville.
