Farmland Guilford County - 34 acres protected

Rafe and Marianne Royle. Donation of Conservation Easement.

Named for a wooded hillside covered with ferns, Fern Hill Farm’s open pastures and forests provide homes for wildlife, plants, and the Royle’s diverse array of farm animals. The easement ensures that the agricultural soils, open space character, and wildlife habitat will be protected forever. In addition to working with PLC to permanently protect their farm, the Royle’s have also worked with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to restore a tributary of the Deep River that crosses their property.

Project funding provided by the landowner and PLC.
