Supporting Trails in June

Blue Heron Trail at Haw River State Park Iron Ore Access

You raised $15,000 for Piedmont Legacy Trails

July 2022

This June, something amazing happened. We raised $15,000 for Piedmont Legacy Trails.

With inspiration and motivation from David Craft, who vowed to match every gift for trails in the month of June, 51 people gave generously to support trails. The funding is going into a special fund for trail signage, benches, trail building tools, maintenance, and volunteer training.

“I am very grateful for so much support for Piedmont Legacy Trails. My recognition pales in comparison to the generous efforts of trail enthusiasts everywhere!”

DAVID CRAFT

On the heels of his recognition as a member of the Long Leaf Pine Society, David decided to celebrate by giving even more to trails. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine was presented to David Craft on May 12, 2022 during a special event held at Haw River State Park where David was instrumental in the formation and expansion of the park as an active participant on the Park Advisory Commission. He has given his time and efforts to land conservation in North Carolina with PLC and our neighbor, Three Rivers Land Trust.

In 2012, David founded the Uwharrie Trailblazers, an organization that is ensuring public access to a network of trails in the Uwharrie Mountains. He was so committed that he purchased lands that were key segments to restore the 50-mile Uwharrie Trail. At PLC, he is continuing his trail work with board level leadership and work on the Piedmont Legacy Trails effort.

We are immensely grateful to have champions for conservation and trails like David who are leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Thank you, David Craft!
And everyone who gave!
