Farmland Protection Plan to preserve county agriculture, heritage
On Monday the Surry County Board of Commissioners reviewed an ambitious endeavor to preserve local farmland and spark new interest in agriculture. County District Conservation Director Tony Davis presented the Farmland Protection Plan, following almost two years of research and development.

PLC's Environmental Book Club meets at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Library from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The club will discuss Render Unto the Valley with author and special guest Rose Senehi.

2:00 pm - Fishing at Fieldstone Acres - Alamance County.
Our Second Saturday Series - Connecting Kids with Nature outing for June features a visit to the beautiful Fieldstone Acres Farm of J.D. and Betty Jean Foust. This 300 acre PLC-protected farm is located in southern Alamance County. Visitors can explore the fields and forests that make Fieldstone Acres a picturesque part of the Piedmont. In addition guests may fish in the lake located on the property for bass, bluegill and other sunfish. Please bring your own fishing supplies and make sure your NC fishing license is current.
