Kevin Redding - Executive Director
Kevin Redding was born and raised in Faith, NC, just outside of Salisbury. He received his Eagle Scout award just before graduating high school. He then went to Western Carolina University and earned a B.S. in Natural Resource Management with a minor in Business Management. Kevin then crossed the state to East Carolina University where he earned a Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in Environmental Policy. He worked for the LandTrust for Central North Carolina in Salisbury for 7 years as their Associate Director. In 2007 he was named the Executive Director of Piedmont Land Conservancy. Kevin’s hobbies include growing tomatoes and hot peppers, fly fishing, duck hunting, Duke basketball and spending time outdoors with his wife, Lori, and their two children, Boone and Molly Ruth.
Kalen Kingsbury - Associate Director & General Counsel
Kalen joined PLC in 2000 after 15 years as a corporate attorney in Los Angeles and Greensboro. She grew up in the “be home by dark” generation exploring the fields and forests around her home and her love of nature began in her grandmother’s garden and grew steadily on a diet of fishing trips with her father, family camping trips and college backpacking trips. Kalen got her B.A. at Duke University and her J.D. at University of Maryland. Her passion for conservation is fueled by a desire to make sure that special natural areas are easily available for future generations to explore and enjoy. Kalen currently serves on the Conservation Defense Advisory Council, a national group providing guidance to the Land Trust Alliance to ensure conservation permanence. So much of what land trusts do will depend on their ability to make good on their promise of permanence.
Ken Bridle - Stewardship Director
A professional scientist for over 25 years, Ken Bridle is a trained botanist with an emphasis on plant physiology and natural product chemistry (Ph.D.). He has worked as a natural heritage and watershed inventory biologist, field ecologist, science museum exhibits director and environmental consultant. He has been active with PLC as a volunteer, consultant, board member and staff member for over 20 years. As PLC’s Stewardship Director, he is responsible for easement monitoring and management of over 25,000 acres of land in more than 190 projects. He has conducted local and regional conservation research and restoration projects in the Dan River area for a variety of groups. He is a founding member of the Dan River Basin Association and has served on the board and been a volunteer for many conservation groups in North Carolina and Stokes County.
Greg Keener - Development Director
Greg works to build partnerships with donors, agencies and private organizations to ensure PLC has the resources needed to fulfill the organization's mission. Greg’s beliefs in stewardship, youth environmental education and enjoyment hiking in state and national parks led him to work with PLC. Greg has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Not-for-Profit Management from Guilford College and a B.A. in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University. He also chairs the Moravian Task Force on Environmental Stewardship and has helped lead “eco-mission” trips with middle and high school students. He lives in Winston-Salem with his wife and son.
Palmer McIntyre - Conservation Planner
Growing up spending summers on the family farm in Ashe County, North Carolina fostered Palmer’s love for nature. She first joined the Piedmont Land Conservancy in 1996 as the Program Manager, and has held various positions since then, including Executive Director, Board Member, and now, as a part-time Conservation Planner. Palmer has a B.A. in Comparative Politics from Wesleyan University (CT) and a Masters of Regional Planning from UNC-CH. Palmer and her husband have three children and she enjoys hiking, gardening, volunteering in schools, serving as a Girl Scout leader, and spending time on their Ashe County farm, which is forever protected by a conservation easement.
Lynne Dardanell - Communications & Outreach Manager
Lynne manages PLC’s newsletters and other communication vehicles, as well as community outreach efforts, special events and monthly nature outings. Before coming to PLC, Lynne handled communications and marketing for two other Triad nonprofits focused on leadership development and art education. She grew up hiking, camping, fishing and appreciating the outdoors in western Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Lynne lives in Summerfield, NC with her husband and two daughters.
Josh Horton-Campbell – Land Protection Associate
Josh joined PLC in 2017 after spending several years as a residential land development attorney at a law firm in Raleigh, a move that aligns his career more closely with his values, and brings to PLC the benefit of his real estate experience. Growing up on a small farm in Pennsylvania, he saw the prime farmland surrounding him be converted into large subdivisions and the cultural shift of his hometown from historic rural farm and horse country into a busy commuter suburb of Philadelphia. He received his B.A. in Anthropology with a concentration in Religious Studies from University of Pittsburgh, and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law with a focus in public interest. A proud citizen of North Carolina since 2007, Josh enjoys working with his wife to build a homestead and permaculture food forest on their 40 acre family farm in Snow Camp, as well as singing and making other “joyful noises” with his ukulele, theremin, jaw harp, and any other instrument he gets his hands on.
Mindy Mock - Land Protection Specialist
Mindy spent every possible moment growing up outside, gardening with her grandmother and great-grandmother, and exploring the outdoors with her friends, Girl Scout troop, and 4-H Club. A Guilford College alumna with a B.A. in both Life Sciences and Environmental Studies (and additional degrees in horticulture and marketing), Mindy’s varied background lends itself nicely to her role as PLC’s Land Protection and Outreach Specialist. She works with landowners who want to permanently protect their land and also creates many of PLC’s maps. Her favorite role is helping manage the Emily Allen Wildflower Preserve, including leading a regular volunteer group that encompasses Master Gardeners and like-minded garden enthusiasts. She also plans and coordinates events and educational opportunities held at the preserve. Outside of work, Mindy loves to spend time with her family and is an avid gardener with a passion for permaculture design, complete with backyard chickens and beehives.
Jeri Donnelly - Office Manager
Jeri is PLC’s office manager, taking care of many crucial details for our small staff. She has always been drawn to the outdoors and its mysteries. As a youngster she spent hours outside climbing trees, examining plants and rocks, or building crude nature boxes. She learned that nature can be beautiful, ugly, calming and frightening, but it is never boring and the stories it has to tell are more than we can read in our lifetime. She has always been associated with groups of people who are comfortable with nature and value the preservation of nature, so Piedmont Land Conservancy is a wonderful fit for her.
Taylor Owens - Database Specialist
Taylor is Piedmont Land Conservancy’s database specialist, working to ensure PLC’s giving records, donor communications and other data management are well maintained. A devoted nature lover and steward, Taylor and his wife have collected art that specializes in nature scenes and wild animals by mostly North Carolina artists. He also maintains 4.5 acres of woods and nature trails located where they live at Friends Homes Guilford.
