PLC is honored to partner with Conservation Trust for North Carolina and Blue Ridge Conservancy to showcase this beautiful property along the Blue Ridge Parkway. PLC Stewardship Director Ken Bridle will be in attendance and can share more about PLC’s work along the parkway.

The Waterfalls Farm is a 280-acre property protected by Blue Ridge Conservancy. The land consists of open fields and mature hardwood and pine forests, with a trail leading hikers to a beautiful cascading waterfall on Waterfalls Creek. Early October will provide cooler weather, gorgeous fall colors, hawk migration sightings and views of Bullhead Mountain State Natural Area. The hike is considered strenuous including rugged terrain to and from the base of the falls. Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes, and bring a good walking stick, water, snacks. This hike is not recommended for children under 12 or pets.

We’ll meet at the Air Bellows Overlook (Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 236.9). Lunch, courtesy of Bob and Roddy Dixon, will be provided along the hike and we will stop to picnic at the waterfalls. Hosts: Conservation Trust for North Carolina, Blue Ridge Conservancy, and Piedmont Land Conservancy.

Registration is limited, so please respond early. To RSVP, click here or contact Hannah Vet at CTNC at 919-828-4199 x 14. All hikes will be held rain or shine, and rain gear is recommended. Registrants will receive details for each hike one week before the date.
