Volunteer Opportunity: Trail Blazing at Knight Brown Nature Preserve!

The Knight Brown Nature Preserve is a scenic natural area in Rockingham County with over three miles of walking trails that meander through a beautiful Piedmont wooded valley and a creek that flows into the Dan River. We will be hosting a couple of workdays on Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th from 9 AM to 2 PM to get our trails in order for the warmer spring days that are quickly approaching! The main task for the workdays is re-blazing the three trail loops in the preserve to make it easier to find your way! We will use several colors of paint and replace our old, plastic markers with an easy to see coat of paint. Come learn the art of trail blazing and help us improve the navigability of the Knight Brown trail system with our Stewardship Director Ken Bridle and other PLC staff. Please bring your lunch, water, gloves, and wear something that you don’t mind potentially getting paint on. We will break for lunch by the trickling creek where you will get a lesson about the ecology and natural history of the preserve from our expert staff.

Please RSVP to Ben Paynter, PLC’s new Americorp staff person who is coordinating this outing – you can email Ben directly at bpaynter@piedmontland.org.
